Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard introduced by Anthropic that lets AI assistants access external tools and data sources directly. Rather than manually copying data between your browser and your AI, MCP servers give the AI immediate access to specialized capabilities.

The Lido MCP server provides Claude, Cursor, and other MCP-compatible tools with the ability to extract structured data from documents. Once installed, your AI assistant gains four new capabilities: authenticating with your Lido account, extracting data from files, retrieving extraction guidance for different document types, and tracking your usage.

This means you can present your AI with a stack of documents and ask it to extract the data you need — all within the same conversation where you are writing code, analyzing data, or building automation.

Why use MCP for data extraction?

Conventional document extraction tools force you to navigate to a web dashboard, upload files, configure extraction templates, and then bring the results back to your working environment. MCP removes that context switching entirely.

Through an MCP server, your AI assistant handles the complete workflow: it reads your document, contacts the extraction API, and provides structured data — all in the same terminal or editor where you are already working.
